Matt is a husband, father, fourth generation South Bostonian, experienced policymaker, and progressive Democrat who is running for State Representative in South Boston and Dorchester. Growing up on M Street, Matt attended St. Brigid’s School (now South Boston Catholic Academy) and Boston College High School. Matt also holds a Bachelor’s in Writing and Literature from Emerson College and a Master’s in Public Policy from Brown University.
Most recently, Matt worked in the Baker administration’s energy office, overseeing hundreds of millions of dollars in clean and efficient energy projects statewide. Matt participated in the writing of the Massachusetts Clean Energy and Climate Plan, which details the State’s approach to climate change. In this role, he also oversaw the Mass Save program and designed and led a program that converted 76,000 streetlights to LED models, saving each participating town hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.
Matt is running for State Representative because he believes that we can do better for the working families of Massachusetts; because he believes that the tight-knit community culture we’re fortunate to still have South Boston and Dorchester is worth supporting and preserving.
Matt’s main issue areas are affordable housing and tackling development and the effects of gentrification.
