Kim Janey emerged victorious in her bid to represent District 7 on the Boston City Council, in the one and only race in the city of Boston that Mass Alliance has ever gotten involved in. Janey, who has spent her career working as an advocate for equitable education policies, served on the council for three years before being selected as Council president by her fellow councilors. Following the departure of Mayor Marty Walsh to serve in the Biden Administration in 2021, Kim Janey was selected to serve as Acting Mayor of Boston, becoming the first woman and person of color to fill the role.
